What is a spamtrap?

Among the elements that most influence the deliverability of your campaigns, there is one that is particularly important: the presence or absence of spamtraps in your files. Spamtrap literally means “spam trap.” In French, the term “adresse piège” is often used.
A spamtrap is an email address that is not supposed to be found in an email file. Having spamtraps in your file indicates either an illegal collection method (web scraping robot, harvesting software) or poor file hygiene. And this is severely penalized by email service providers!
