What is the customization of tracking on your domain?
Updated on April 21, 2025
How does tracking work?
Tracking is the tool that allows you to track the openings and links in your message. You can easily see which recipient has opened your message and clicked on which links.
When you send your message with tracking, the links in your message are automatically transformed by OxiMailing to record the clicks and openings.
Thus, a link present in your email like this:
https://www.monsite.com/contact
Is transformed at sending into:
https://www.serveurdetracking.com/c.php?idlot=XXX&(…)&url=https://www.monsite.com/contact
This allows us, when a user clicks on one of your links, to record the click on the tracking server and then instantly redirect the user to your website.
How can this process be improved?
The default configuration can pose several problems:
-
An anti-spam system analyzes the reputation of the links in your message. It is ideal that the reputation of your email is not linked to the reputation of the shared domain www.serveurdetracking.com.
-
When your clients hover over the links in your email, they see the address www.serveurdetracking.com and not the address of your site www.monsite.com, which can make them doubt the origin of the message.
What is link tracking customization?
Customizing tracking URLs allows you, by placing 3 small .php files on your website, to maintain tracking functions and have the links in your message point to your site monsite.com.
The link present at sending in your message will be:
https://www.monsite.com/c.php?idlot=XXX&(…)&url=https://www.monsite.com.com/contact
Thus, there will no longer be a mention of the server www.serveurdetracking.com in your message.
How to customize your tracking links?
Customizing tracking links is integrated into the domain authentication process. To get the setup guide, check out this article: How to get the setup guide for my domain to authenticate with OxiMailing?
